Seeing “Coming Soon” or “Under Construction” on a website, especially if it’s been “Coming Soon” for a while now. If you can’t afford a web designer or have no means of designing something yourself, you’re probably better off putting up a link to your blog, flickr or myspace; rather than have someone visit your website only to see “Coming Soon” – it’s such a waste of time for the visitor, especially if you’ve been promoting your website, or have a url advertised on your business card or flyer and yet there’s nothing to show. Also if you’re waiting for a super fancy website, you’re better off putting up something simple in the meantime. Personally, I prefer simple, especially if the content already speaks for itself.
I also think that if you have a website, you should update it from time to time. What is the point of having a website if you don’t update it? It becomes stale and uninteresting. Your visitors will lose interest and will probably never visit again.
